If you use any of the below proctoring platforms, you can easily integrate ClassCalc’s calculator (graphing, statistics, scientific and matrices) for free, and save your students lots of money.
Note: If you want to integrate a custom instance of ClassCalc with data or inputs already in it, use this link to learn more.
- Proctorio
- Canvas
- Respondus
- HonorLock
- ProctorU
- Examity
- ExamSoft
For each platform, the goal is to integrate one or more of the following URLs:
- Scientific, Graphing/Statistics & Matrices:
- Scientific Only:
- Graphing/Statistics Only:
- Matrix Only:
Here’s how to do that for each platform:
- Proctorio (Read below, or just use this video tutorial)
- To grant students access to ClassCalc you can simply enable the "In quiz links" feature, and input the link to the calculator URL you want to enable. Use this Proctorio link for specific directions.
- For extra security, you can enable the "Record Web traffic" so you can see all of the websites that your students visit while in the exam. Here is a link where you can find more about this setting.
- Make sure that the "Force full screen" option is disabled so the students can open ClassCalc in a new tab.
- To allow students to open up more links you can simply enable the "Tabs allowed" option.
- Canvas
- Go to Pages and add a new page
- Name your page, and click on HTML Editor
- To enable ClassCalc (graphing, scientific and matrices), paste:
- <p><iframe style="width: 100%; height: 800px; border: 1px solid #ccc" src="https://app.classcalc.com/embed#/graph"></iframe></p>
- Note: You may have to wait 5-10 seconds to see ClassCalc load in the preview
- Note: You can also adjust the height and width to suit your needs.
-
- <p><iframe style="width: 100%; height: 800px; border: 1px solid #ccc" src="https://app.classcalc.com/embed#/graph"></iframe></p>
- Save the page and you will then see the ClassCalc calculator pop up on that page!
- Go to Pages and add a new page
- Note: The above embed link will enable all three ClassCalc calculators. To enable just one calculator, use the following:
- Scientific Only —
- <p><iframe style="width: 100%; height: 800px; border: 1px solid #ccc" src="https://app.classcalc.com/embed?hide#/"></iframe></p>
- Graphing/Statistics Only —
- <p><iframe style="width: 100%; height: 800px; border: 1px solid #ccc" src="https://app.classcalc.com/embed?hide#/graph"></iframe></p>
- Matrix Only —
- <p><iframe style="width: 100%; height: 800px; border: 1px solid #ccc" src="https://app.classcalc.com/embed?hide#/matrix"></iframe></p>
- Scientific Only —
- Respondus
- From the Respondus support article on integrating/whitelisting external URLs:By default, if an exam contains a link to an external web domain, students can view the initial page but all links and navigation from that page are blocked.
- Therefor, to integrate ClassCalc, you must include links in your tests to 1 or more of the above calculators links — however, make sure to include the exact link above by copying and pasting it, otherwise, Respondus will not let students access it.
- HonorLock
- When configuring your exam settings, you’ll have an option called “Whitelist URLs”. Toggle that on then follow the onscreen instructions to add any of the calculator URLs.
- ProctorU
- Ensure that within your LMS exam set-up (that you have created following the set-up instructions for either UTS online or Canvas) that you have set ‘Browser Tabs’ to ‘Allowed’ to make sure that students will be able to open the required web pages.
- Make sure that you are logged in to the ProctorU browser extension, and select ‘Go to proctorU’ to open up your ProctorU account page in a new tab.
- Select the pencil icon next to the exam in question to bring up the settings.
- On the settings page under ‘Configuration’ there is a heading for ‘Whitelisted URLs’. Select ‘Add URL’ to add one of the above URLS and select whether the website should open automatically at the beginning of the exam session.
- Press ‘Submit’ to save these changes.
- Examity (coming soon)
