As we see it, there are three types of online/remote proctoring environments, and ClassCalc has solutions for them all:
- You, the teacher, are present and monitoring the all students taking the test simultaneously:
- In this scenario, we encourage you to use ClassCalc as you would during class. Simply start Test Mode, make sure your students have joined, and monitor your teacher panel to ensure students are staying in ClassCalc during class/test time. If a student leaves Test Mode, you'll be immediately notified.
- Someone else, either from your school or from a third party company, monitors the students on their own schedule - or - the student is recorded via a camera and reviewed later:
- For this scenario, we're building a self-lock feature, where students will be able to lock themselves onto ClassCalc and show the proctor that they are locked. The protocol would be:
- Before starting the test: students lock themselves onto ClassCalc (you would not need to send them a test invitation to do this) and show their proctor they're locked down into Test Mode (indicated by the red bar at the top of the screen)
-
- At the end of the test: students show their proctor their "timestamp" before leaving Test Mode, which shows the proctor what time they joined Test Mode, and what time they left (and can assume there was no interruption in between).
- Before starting the test: students lock themselves onto ClassCalc (you would not need to send them a test invitation to do this) and show their proctor they're locked down into Test Mode (indicated by the red bar at the top of the screen)
- For this scenario, we're building a self-lock feature, where students will be able to lock themselves onto ClassCalc and show the proctor that they are locked. The protocol would be:
- Students take the test using a lockdown browser
- For this scenario, we suggest embedding our calculator webapp within the lockdown browser for the test.
