Important Note: Teachers can use any device for teacher-related features. Students can use any iOS device, most Android devices (see blacklisted devices here) and any managed Chromebook device newer than 2017.
Let's begin:
- Download ClassCalc: Android | iOS | Webapp (teachers only)
- If you're using ClassCalc on Chromebooks, make sure to have your IT administrator set ClassCalc for Chromebooks up by contacting us at team@classcalc.com, or follow the steps outline here.
- Teacher signs up as Teacher, students sign up as Students
- Desktop

- Note: We highly suggest using Google Sign Up (with your school gmail). If you sign up with email, don't forget your account information, and make sure your students remember theirs.

- Teacher Creates a class
- On the Teacher Panel, select "Add Classroom", and name your class

- Teacher starts Test Mode Lockdown
- On the Teacher Panel, select your class and click "Start Test"
- Desktop:

- Optional: Use a CustomCalc to customize your students calculator
- Notice the color of the dot next to each student's name:
- Red means the student either rejected the Test Mode invite or left Test Mode
- Yellow means the student has not yet responded to the Test Mode invite
- Green means the student is in Test Mode Lockdown
- Students Join Test Mode Lockdown
- During Test Mode Lockdown, students will not have access to anything on their device that is not ClassCalc - no other apps (Instagram, Facebook, Photomath), no calls, no texts.
- Here is how students join on different devices:
- iOS
- Click Join Test and accept iOS "App Self-Lock"
- When the student joins Test Mode, their dot color will change from yellow (invite pending) to green (in Test Mode).
- Android
- Every Android is slight different, but the four quick steps to join Test Mode are:
- Turn on Do Not Disturb
- Activate Pin Mode
- Give ClassCalc Accessibility permissions to pause other apps during Test Mode
- Join Test Mode!
- * Note: ClassCalc will use accessibility permissions to pause other apps during Test Mode
- Turn on Do Not Disturb
- Every Android is slight different, but the four quick steps to join Test Mode are:
- Chromebook:
- From the Chromebook login screen, open ClassCalc as a Kiosk App
- If this option isn't available, see this article.
- Sign in with your student account
- Once you sign in, you will receive an invite to join Test Mode. Click "Join Test"
- You will now be locked into ClassCalc Test Mode. When you exit Test Mode, Teacher will be notified.
- From the Chromebook login screen, open ClassCalc as a Kiosk App
- iOS
- Students can leave Test Mode Lockdown by selecting "Exit Test", but as soon as they do, the Teacher will be notified.
- When the student leaves Test Mode, their dot color will change from green (in Test Mode) to red (left Test Mode).
